According to the March jobs report released on Friday, the US cut 701,000 jobs while the unemployment rate jumped from 3.5% to 4.4%. It is no secret that the economy has taken a massive hit as a result of the exponential spread of the deadly coronavirus. Unemployment claims have soared to record levels in recent weeks as more and more businesses are forced to shut their doors. While some businesses have taken a significant hit, other industries are flourishing during this global pandemic. If you have found yourself out of work due to this crisis, here are a few job markets to check out for employment.

Online Learning

With the majority of the country's children now learning virtually, there has been a huge demand for online learning platforms. While it is commendable that school districts are trying to replicate the classroom model through technology, there are various shortfalls in this approach. Online tutors are playing a pivotal role in how parents can supplement their child's education with individualized attention. Many parents are also shifting their focus to homeschool options, providing online educators with many opportunities to expand their business.

Grocery Stores and Delivery Services

Grocery store sales are booming during this time when people are at home preparing all of their meals. Many grocery chains are hiring at a rapid pace to keep up with this demand. There is also an increasing need for grocery delivery services as people are hesitant to head to the brick and mortar store to purchase their food. This is a particularly good job choice if you simply need a temporary job to get you through uncertain financial times. If you do not want to work with the public, you can apply for an overnight job stocking shelves.

Shipping and Delivery Companies

In addition to grocery store delivery companies, there is a host of additional companies that are hiring drivers in an attempt to meet the needs of the population staying at home. Amazon is a great place to start your search for a temporary delivery position. There is also an abundance of opportunities to be found in many warehouses if you do not want to get out on the road or if you do not have reliable transportation.

Childcare

Because many schools have closed, essential workers have been left in a bind for childcare. Many communities are racing to open up childcare services for those workers who need to still do their job. You can either apply for a job at one of these sites or you may consider opening up a home childcare option to provide this essential service. This is an especially good option if you have children of your own at home and you want to make a little extra money during this time. As a bonus, you will feel good about giving back to your community.

Healthcare Workers

Although many jobs in healthcare are highly specialized and require experience and the right educational background, there are also many opportunities in entry-level positions. Even something as simple as working the reception desk at a clinic or in the hospital's cafeteria will provide you with ample job security during this pandemic. The doctors and nurses require a large support staff in order to guide the nation through this health crisis.

Restaurant Delivery Services

Even though restaurants have been forced to shut down their dine-in options, many businesses are still open for takeout and delivery. This has opened up a wealth of job opportunities for food delivery drivers. This is a good job option if you want to limit your contact with the public for health reasons. Many restaurants are now requiring that customers pay over the phone for their orders so that they can utilize a no-contact delivery option.

There is no denying that the job market is going to take a significant hit as a result of this pandemic. Larry Kudlow, the top economic adviser to President Trump, warned on Friday that the unemployment situation will get much worse before it gets better. However, by focusing on the areas that are seeing job growth, you will find an abundance of opportunities.
